Zoa Barnes is a practicing attorney with over twenty-five years of experience in family law, divorce, custody, child support and protective orders. After a sixteen year career in cancer research, Zoa decided to go to law school. She has a B.A. from Hood College and a J.D. from University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. A former President of the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland, Zoa is member of the Carroll County Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association and the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland. She has volunteered at a number of community organizations including Rape Crisis Services of Carroll County, Carroll Food Sunday and Access Carroll Integrated Health Care. Zoa has been the recipient of dozens of awards including Top 50 Women Lawyers in Maryland 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, Top 100 Women In Maryland 2017, 2019, Top 100 Lawyers in Maryland 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, Super Lawyer 2012- 2022.
